Lawmakers fight over Impeachment plot, Deputy Speaker punched (DETAILS)

The Ondo state house of Assembly briefly turned to a boxing ring on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, as lawmakers exchanged heavy punched over the Tuesday impeachment of the ex-deputy speaker of the assembly, Iroju Ogundeji.

PoliticsNGR gathered that the lawmakers were preparing for a parliamentary session before the plenary when a serious argument broke out.

The impeached Deputy speaker was punched during the fracas.

Tribune reported that the bone of contention was the directives from the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, who waded into the matter and urged lawmakers to reverse their decision on the impeached Deputy Speaker, but the majority of the lawmakers insisted that the decision cannot be rescinded.

It was gathered that the lawmakers warned the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Bamidele Oleyelogun, against re-instating the impeached deputy speaker.
